About

Hi I’m Darwin, I’m a Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech and Emory University in the biomedical engineering department. My work focuses on designing biohybrid systems or biological machines for medical applications.

I grew up in Long Island, NY, but spent my childhood traveling back-and-forth to Guatemala, which gave me many great opportunities to learn from the changing sceneries. Learning from from books is great but passed down wisdom and lived experiences have taught me how to live.

Life has been interesting and unpredictable. From drinking water on leaves in the mountains of Guatemala, milking cows, a year in military school, working in burger king in high school, cutting grass with my dad, a year of collegiate soccer in community college, a semester in flight school, an undergrad degree in biochemistry from Stony Brook University, to presenting biomedical research at national conferences, and a year spent under snow in Cleveland at Case Western Reserve University. Now, I’m on my way to earning a Ph.D. during one of the most exciting times to be in medical research.

My plan is to share some lessons from all these experiences. I hope you learn something. Thanks for stopping by!

One can never pay in gratitude; one can only pay “in kind” somewhere else in life.
